NORDLINK OFFICIAL OPENING
It was a historic day for climate change with the opening of Nordlink, a new €1.8 billion subsea interconnector between Norway and Germany. The interconnector will ensure an efficient exchange of power between the countries for the next 40 years.
Playroom produced a digital opening ceremony that was streamed live to thousands of homes and offices across Europe. The Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel marked the occasion alongside NordLink partners Statnett, TenneT and investment bank KfW.
The live stream was twelve months in the making and complicated by the challenges of COVID. Originally planned as two large physical events in Wilster, Germany and Tonstad here in Norway, plans were adapted to meet the needs of the day. The final result was a seamless broadcast featuring VIPs and dignitaries from five different locations, along with a physical press event in central Oslo.
