CHEVROLET "POWER OF PLAY"

IN ASSOCIATION WITH MANCHESTER UNITED

BANDUNG, INDONESIA / PRETORIA, SA + CHICAGO, USA

Chevrolet marked their new sponsorship of Manchester United by bringing the 'Power of Play' to some of the world's most challenged communities. Football pitches were designed and built around the world to support community groups. Aside from pitches and equipment, life skills were taught to hundreds of local children and teachers using football as a tool for social change with a specially designed programme by Coaches Across Continents.  A floodlit pitch was built in Bandung, Indonesia for local anti- discrimination group Rumah Cemara. Rumah Cemara uses a peer intervention model in order to increase the quality of life for people with HIV/AIDS and people who use drugs in Indonesia.

A pitch was also created in a township just outside of Pretoria, South Africa with local NGO Dreamfields and a third pitch was created in Chicago, USA. This time a pitch that packs up into the back of a truck. Local group Beyond The Ball deliberately set the pitch up on gangland borders, offering a chance to bring torn communities together.
